_Szczecin Order

EcoGenerator is a WtE plant that will be built by the end of 2015 on the Ostrow Grabowski peninsula at Szczecin. The construction of this WtE plant will result in one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Europe, which will convert 150,000 tons of waste per year into energy...

...The contract for the construction of the WtE plant, from the grate furnace via the boiler to the flue gas cleaning system, was given to Polish plant constructor Rafako S.A. from Racibórz. A special feature of this system is that it is the only one of the WtE plants currently being built in Poland to be fitted with a wet flue gas cleaning system. Looking for an energy-optimized solution, Rafako turned to Wallstein Engineering GmbH, which has several references in the field of gas-gas heat exchangers (GGH) for WtE plants. In traditionally close cooperation, an optimized and tested solution was found, and a contract for the supply of two GGHs for Szczecin was signed in May.
Downstream from the electrostatic precipitator, the heat exchangers cool the raw gas from 175°C to about 108°C and at the same time heat the clean gas downstream of the scrubber from 56°C to at least 110°C to avoid condensation in the bag filter. This measure avoids steam heating by means of primary energy and the saved steam contributes to the production of additional electricity. Thus, the energy efficiency of the entire system is increased.
The fluoroplastic AlWaFlon®, which has proven itself several times, was chosen as the material for the heat exchanger tubes. The chemical resistance of this material to all pollutants expected in the exhaust gas of a WtE plant guarantees high availability and durability of the heat exchanger.
