Interview with Jens Olfen

Ioannis Samaras, our sales manager responsible for the Electrical Engineering and Maintenance area in the regions of NRW, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Hesse, talked to Jens Olfen, an operation manager for Production and Technology at IRM. His question: What about the Wallstein Group convinced Jens to immediately recommend the company to his employer, and to make the decision to work with Wallstein?

Even though you went to work for another company, you still chose Wallstein Service as a maintenance operator. What were the crucial factors in your decision?

At my new employer, there was a need for cleaning services for their low- and medium-voltage systems.Over many years of partnering with Wallstein, I got a picture of their highly professional approach and diligent execution. This was the decisive factor that made me invite Wallstein to perform the work for my new employer.

How would you describe your experience working with us?

Well, it was entirely positive, both in my previous job and in this one. From expert advisory services all the way through invariably competent execution by on-site technicians. Problems are being communicated openly. This is exactly my idea of good cooperation!

Please describe your opinion on the importance of ensuring industrial safety and equipment availability.

The equipment availability as well as operational safety are the alpha and omega for me.Unplanned downtimes are costly, and they always happen at the worst time possible, which is why I consider preventive maintenance an important, pivotal matter.

After successfully completing a project, what would you recommend to a newcomer in the field of wet scrubbing, someone who also has to manage maintenance objectives as part of their job description?

It is important to receive proper consulting on this process, in order to be able to independently weigh the applicability of this form of preventive maintenance.

Would you recommend Wallstein Service?

Definitely! They kept every appointment, and there have never been any coordination issues. As already mentioned, I can really only report positive experience: to this day, every job was performed to our complete satisfaction.
