A pillow with a sensor and motor shakes snorers until silence reigns.   Taiwanese product engineers have developed an anti-snoring pillow that carefully moves from side to side when it detects noises. Many different medical fields have attempted to help snorers stop sawing logs at night. Whether sinus operations, special plasters across your nose, hypnosis or acupuncture — a universal remedy for night-time disturbances of the bedroom peace has not yet been found.

...Taiwanese product engineers have now taken a technical approach to the problem and developed an anti-snore pillow.
This new hope for all permanent snorers (and their partners …) looks fairly comfortable, is ergonomically shaped, 50 by 35 centimetres in size and fitted with a removable and washable polyester cover. At first sight, the only unusual thing about it is the 12-volt power connector on the side. But this clever pillow doesn't just contain soft feathers in which to sink your head, but also a motor that makes it unmistakably clear to snorers that they should not disturb the peace in the bedroom. The essential component is a small sensor under the pillowcase that activates the above-mentioned motor when it detects four snores in a row. The motor then moves the pillow softly but effectively from side to side seven times, and if necessary repeats the procedure again and again until the sleeper stops making noises. According to the manufacturer, the pillow shakes your head so gently that most testers stop snoring without being woken by the automatic pillow movements. The product's name, "Smart Anti-snore Pillow" could tolerate some improvement, the method appears quite rough, and the high price of 279.90 euros may be off-putting, but if snorers and their long-suffering partners can finally get a good night's sleep thanks to sensor detection and shaking technology, then perhaps there'll soon be a global pillow fight over this Taiwanese dream product. What can you do but shake your head — and sleep on …
