Continuation of the successful modernisation of blocks 8-12 at the Polish Bełchatów power station. In early 2011, Wallstein Engineering GmbH received an order for the retrofitting of heat displacement systems to 4 boiler units at the Bełchatów site in Poland, the largest lignite-fired power plant in Europe...
...This order is a part of various modernisations that are being made to the boilers. The boilers were built in the 80's and the corresponding desulphurisation units in the 90's. The modernization work on blocks 8-12 are expected to be completed by 2016.
The phase of the modernisation at block 8 was successfully completed in June 2013. All assured properties have been maintained and the system has since been in continuous, trouble-free operation.
The second phase of the modernisation for block 11 is already underway. The pressure test of the heat exchanger modules was successfully completed in February. All components are ready for delivery.
The assembly of the heat displacement system will occur in summer 2014. The commercial operation of the plant is scheduled to begin in January 2015.
