Escalator Maintenance: New Addition to our Portfolio

Our Electric and Maintenance Technology Department has now added maintenance of escalators to its already diverse portfolio.

The Karlsplatz square, A.K.A. Stachus as the locals often call it, is a core piece of Munich’s downtown. It’s one of Europe’s busiest squares in terms of traffic, and its western entrance to the pedestrian zone is an important node of the city’s public transport.

We have completed the required and mandated fire safety cleaning and maintenance on the 76-step escalator with the purpose of eliminating dust, lint, and debris from its interior, thus reducing the fire load. Additionally, the technical condition needed to be examined, and the steps and idler wheels required renovation. For this task, we had to remove each step individually in order to clean and service it. After the maintenance work and reassembly, various adjustment activities were completed, ensuring failure-free operation of the escalator.
